Mwau What Did You Do?

On June 3rd, 2011, US President Barrack Obama confirmed US led allegations that Kenyan MP John Harun Mwau is indeed a Narcotics Kingpin and has assets said to be worth 750 million US dollars. President Obama thereby issued sanctions to freeze Mr. Mwau's American assets and a warrant for arrest.
Lets be honest. When it comes to drug trafficking the US knows what they are talking about. Its a known fact that ex-CIA operative (YES, he worked for the CIA from 1950's till 1988 when he was indicted on drugs charges by the Drug Enforcement Agency) General Manuel Antonio Noriega was one of the most notorious drug lords out of Latin America. His business empire was so involved with US government agencies that: "It is clear that each U.S. government agency which had a relationship with Noriega turned a blind eye to his corruption and drug dealing, even as he was emerging as a key player on behalf of the Medellin Cartel (a member of which was notorious Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar)." Noriega was allowed to establish "the hemisphere's first "narcokleptocracy". One of the large financial institutions that he was able to use to launder money was the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) which was shut down at the end of the Cold War by the FBI. Noriega shared his cell with ex-BCCI executives in the facility that is known as "Club Med".(source. Wikipedia).

Let's face it, for you to be a drug kingpin with assets in the US, they must know you. In fact, you must be business partners, as Noriega proved. No wonder Mwau claims repeatedly that this is a smear campaign by rivals attempting to take over his businesses in the US with unfair means. 50 billion kshs is A LOT of money. Many Kenyans are asking, how indeed did the MP for Kilome make that much money, what exactly does he do? The problem with Kenyans is that they keep asking the wrong questions. What they should be asking is, "Is John Harun Mwau an ex CIA operative, and if he is now in bad books, what did he do to piss off America?"
Well lets compare their careers.
General Manuel Antonio Noriega was a CIA operative for over 30 years, during which time he went from being an ordinary soldier to receiving intelligence and counterintelligence training at the school of Americas in the US Army base Fort Gullick in 1967, as well completed psychological operations (psyops) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was later promoted to Lieutenant Colonel by Omar Torrijos his mentor. It was a few years after this that Noriega became a CIA operative and about 30 years of his life and activities subsequently became shrouded in complete mystery.
John Harun Mwau better known as "the Boss"  is a former Olympic champion shooter, and was in the Kenya Police. Actually other than his career in politics, John Harun Mwau's businesses and personal dealings remain shrouded in mystery. I can only mention the businesses that are known in the public domain such as Nakumatt Holdings, and can only talk of his presidential bid of 1992. Lets just say that other than his political aspirations in Kilome as MP, a short stint as head of the then newly formed Anti Corruption Committee, and his current position as assistant Minister, we know very little of how a former cop became a billionaire. I can tell you what he owns but I can't tell you how he got it. No matter, we can always infer that whatever it is he did, it was very lucrative.
Back to Noriega. "In the 1988 presidential election, Democratic candidate Michael Dukakis highlighted this history in a campaign commercial attacking his opponent, Vice President (and former CIA Director) George H.W. Bush for his close relationship with "Panamanian drug lord Noriega." (source, Wikipedia).
Mwau claims that President Barrack Obama is out to kill him, not over drugs trade but for his businesses in the US. Now, not give weight to his words, but it won't be the first time a US president had questionable business dealings with a "drug lord".
In fact to be honest, not Just Bush Sr, but even Eisenhower had markedly unscrupulous dealings with despots. in 1961, under orders from the then President of the US, Dwight Eisenhower, CIA operatives with the assistance of Belgian assasins, plotted and orchestrated the murder of Patrice Lumumba, the Democratic Repulic of Congo's first and only democratically elected Prime Minister, 3 months into his tenure. They then imposed their preffered despotic puppet Mobutu, better known as Mobutu Sese Seko, and there by created a state that could be happily plundered by American Multinationals for gold, tin, copper, titanum and coltan, a situation that is on going to date.
But I digress. Its clear that Mwau is desperately afraid for his life, and should be, if what he asserts is true. Even though he was once one of them, Manuel Noriega was hunted down after the successful yet completely illegal invasion of Panama; they caught him at the Apostilic Nunciature, the embassy of the Holy See in Panama (dude! they chased him to church and hunted him out!); he was detained and later sentenced to 40 years in jail. He is still considered a prisoner of war.
Unlike Noriega, the other ex- CIA operative known to also have drug dealings did not have the luxury of a life sentence, in fact Osama Bin Laden lived a life as a fugitive and was finally shot in the head in front of his family and his body buried at sea.
If his utterances today are anything to go by, John Harun Mwau, considers himself to be as closely intertwined to the CIA as was Osama bin Laden. YES, he also worked for the CIA, for the full story check this link:

The Truth is the Drug King Pin act simply freezes assets of designated “Drug Kingpins”. Not really a huge deal, and nowhere in the law is there a direct threat of any sort to the Kingpin, other than the threat of incarceration. When you look closely at it, this act is really just about money! The US government stops the flow of money in the US, money that comes from drug businesses run by foreign nationals.
So you have got to ask yourself what the hell is Mwau on about, when he is lamenting that his life is in danger over an act that designates him “Kingpin” and freezes of his money in the US? I mean money is good but it isn’t your life. Are you telling us that all 50 billion Kenya shillings of your money is in the US ergo you will die?
Indeed when several MPs beg for the life of their fellow parliamentarian in a bid to protect him before Barrack Obama visits Kenya in September 2011, then given the facts about other ex-CIA Drug lords, we can safely conclude that John Harun Mwau is possibly an ex-CIA operative, possibly a former bedfellow with the powers that be in America and somehow somewhere made the unforgivable mistake of having outlived his use, or worse, he pissed them off.
oooo Mwau what did you do, really?

The Matter of a Nation with Tribes and no Nationality.

I am Kenyan - To many Kenyans that also means that they will automatically check my last name. Its become second nature to inquire of people's second names and somehow the assumption is that this surname will automatically inform the person's psyche'. Stereotyping, ethnic profiling, these are all words that can easily describe that attitude, that approach to life.
Its illegal in Kenya to discriminate along ethnic lines. Our constitution is categorical about this, you may not discriminate against anyone and deny them their social and fundamental rights based on their ethnicity. But everywhere you go, every single person, will distinguish you by your ethnicity, your last name, your surname.

It begs the question really, what is the use of a constitution that no one uses? Kenyans keep complaining that their Members of Parliament are truly reluctant to implement the new constitution, Kenyans are really mad at the two principles for subverting due process in the matter of nominations for the Chief Justice (Feb 2011), and now Kenyans are mad at the clergy for picking on Dr. Willy Mutunga for being nominated while wearing a stud earring. But how many Kenyans are practicing and believing in the spirit of the constitution? How many Kenyans are really and truly looking past the surname?
Lets face it, the constitution of Kenya is a national document that will only become a national matter when everyone in this nation takes it seriously, loves it, embraces its ideals, its laws and its promises as we had hoped when we fought to have it drafted for over 20 years.
No single ethnicity delivered that promise of hope, that fundamental writ. Not just one ethnicity, but all Kenyans.
It serves us all then to read this constitution over and over again, to imbed it in our minds, in our hearts, to write it on our walls, to teach our children to recite our national prayer our national ANTHEM, until we finally deliver to each and every Kenyan that fundamental right - NO DISCRIMINATION.
Yes my fellow Kenyans, there are rights, there are privileges and there are RESPONSIBILITIES OF EVERY KENYAN CITIZEN. Be responsible, look past my surname, today and everyday. Rise up! you are KENYAN, and we are not a nation of last names, first names or middle names, but a nation of people who live, work and survive together!

For better understanding each of you please download a copy of the Kenya Constitution here, and read it, please.

on a side note - a surname is the name of whoever is your "sire 'or 'master' - my surname indicates who my dad is, not who I am. LOL!

Incredible

INCREDIBLE
That we as a race are so caught up in our own individual survival, never noticing the rush towards annihilation that we are in, the rat race, we, the human race are – incredible
Blind to the many ways in which Mother Nature, God, the Devil, all the same one thing that has found a billion ways to extinguish our fragile lives; our oblivion to our situation is just – incredible
If we would just take a moment to count the toll this year alone 100,000 in Burma, 71,000 in china, 50,000 in Darfur and millions more to die from the diseases that spring from the corpses of the counted, our continued pretence and removal from this reality is – incredible
How we feel, that there is an “us” and a “them,” and use this thin distinction to separate ourselves from the massive tide of suffering all around us, amongst us, within us – incredible
When we practice deafness for so long that we will never again hear the soft cries for help until they become a gigantic wall of sound manifested in open sores, broken bones, and bloated dead bodies in rivers of blood – incredible
Why, when the destruction of our lives and the promise of death are so acute, we dare to hope and to believe in a future greater than this for ourselves and our children – incredible
If in every 100 million there is just one seed of eternity planted with truth in the hearts and minds of our children just to move and inspire, perhaps even direct the flow of human energy away from survival and towards excellence, this would just be – incredible
That this person with the promise of the gods and the hopes of a demented race sitting within his very being manages to live past hunger, disaster, war and disease, manages then to rise to the position that would be a perch for him from which he can then through the excellence of his own life divert the flow of human history away from death and toward eternal life, this miraculous person would just be – incredible

Given the insurmountable odds of such a being existing in the first place and living to completion so as to become living excellence; given the unlikelihood of such a person meeting with the sort of life encounters that may guide his spirit towards such accomplishment, given the harsh nature of the environment in which he is to do his life’s work, putting all this together within the limited moment we call a lifetime it is incredible that YOU are here, just - INCREDIBLE
